"The MIDI browser makes me feel stuck"
I bought Toontrack mostly because I wanted to use the MIDI browser, but it’s been frustrating. Searching feels clunky, the filters don’t narrow things down the way I expect, and I end up clicking around forever just trying to find a simple groove. After a while it kind of feels like I’m trapped in the browser instead of actually making music. The previews can be awkward too, which doesn’t help. The sounds themselves are good, but for the price, the whole browsing experience should be a lot smoother

"Expansions feel kinda samey"
I was expecting more variety from the expansion libraries, but a lot of them just feel like slightly different versions of the same rock/metal/pop packs. If you're looking for something more niche or a bit different, teh options get thin fast.
For the price, I thought there'd be more stuff I’d actually use. Browsing the store started to feel really repetitive, and I kept thinking, do I really need another pack like this? Kinda dissapointing overall

"Decent deal, but maybe wait for a sale"
I do think it’s a good value overall, or at least it seems that way to me. The prices can start adding up, though, so I’d probably wait for a sale if you’re on the fence. That’s when it feels the most worth it.

"I’ve been using Toontrack for a while and..."
I’ve been using Toontrack for a while and honestly , I do like their stuff . The upgrades usually feel worth it , but the pricing can be a little confusing at times . I feel like existing users could maybe get a better deal or at least a clearer breakdown . Overall I’m still happy with the products , I just wish the upgrade offers were easier to understand .

"I’m a fan of Toontrack overall, and I..."
I’m a fan of Toontrack overall, and I use EZdrummer regularly. The sounds are solid and it’s just easy to get ideas going without messing around too much.
The only thing that bugs me is the updates. Product Manager works fine most of the time, but every now and then it’ll hang up or throw some failed message, and I end up restarting stuff just to get it moving again. Not a huge disaster, just kind of a pain when you’re in the mood to make music.

The support pages usually point me in the right direction, and it normally gets sorted out eventually, so I’m not really mad about it. I just wish the whole update thing felt a bit smoother and less like, who knows what’ll happen today.

"Grooves are solid, but I'm a little less confident now"
I mainly use toontrack for drum MIDI, the grooves do feel real most of the time. They usually drop into a track without needing a ton of editing, which I really appreciate. Some of the fills can come off a bit too polished or perfect, though. Lately that’s made me second-guess things a bit more than I used to, like I’m not always sure if I can trust it to sound natural right away. Still good overall, just not quite as effortless for me as it first seemed

"i use Toontrack mostly for EZdrummer..."
i use Toontrack mostly for EZdrummer stuff, and the Product Manager does make life easy. It keeps everything in one place, shows what I own, what needs updating, and saves me from hunting around for installers.

The only reason I’d knock it down to 4 stars is that some downloads can be a bit slow or seem to hang for a while, even when my internet is fine. Restarting it usually sorts things out, though, so overall it works well and definitely saves me time.

"Decent sound tweaking, but not quite what I expected"
I do like how much you can adjust the instruments and shape the kits to fit a song better. That part is solid once you get the hang of it. A few settings were kind of tucked away, so it took me a bit to figure out where everything was. I’ll be honest though, I felt a little misled at first because I expected it to be more straightforward right away. It’s not perfect, but overall it’s still a good tool.

"Actually saves me time"
I’ve been using this for a bit now, it saves me real time. A lot of the little delays I used to deal with feel totally avoidable now, which is a big plus.

"I bought this hoping it would help..."
I bought this hoping it would help me come up with some songwriting ideas, but it just didn’t do much for me. The sounds are fine, I guess, but nothing really clicked or sparked anything. I spent about 20 minutes messing with it and mostly felt like I was just waiting for inspiration to show up, which got frustrating fast. Ended up closing it and regretting the purchase. Not really worth it if you’re looking for something to kickstart a song.

"I tried using this with Ableton and kept..."
I tried using this with Ableton and kept running into syncing issues, which got frustrating fast. I reached out hoping for some help, but the response made it feel like nobody actually read what I wrote. Not the best experience overall.

"Licensing was kinda annoying"
I bought a Toontrack product and the software itself is good, no big complaints there. But getting it licensed and activated was more annoying then it needed to be. I had to log in, mess with their Product Manager thing, and it still kept throwing weird messages at me before it finally decided to work.

I get that they need copy protection and all that, but the whole process just felt clunky. It wasn’t a total nightmare, but it was definitely more hassle than I was expecting for something I already paid for.

"Keeps crashing and no one seems to own the issue"
I’m getting tired of Toontrack crashing on me in the middle of sessions. I’ve tried updating it, but that hasn’t really changed much. When it works, it’s great, but on my system it just feels really unstable. The most frustrating part is that when you try to get help, it feels like nobody actually takes ownership of the problem, so you’re just stuck going in circles.

"I liked the idea of what the…"
I liked the idea of what the site offers, and once I finally figured things out, it did what I needed. That said, actually using it was frustrating, the layout felt confusing, and it took me way longer than it should have to get around. Hopefully they can make it a bit more user-friendly, because it seems like it could be really useful with a smoother setup.

"Great presets, though I still end up tweaking a few"
I mostly use toontrack for the presets, a lot of them are really solid. Sometimes I’ll load one up and feel instantly inspired because it just sits in the mix nicely, especially the drum sounds. Then other times I’m like, okay, this one is a little too processed for me, and I have to pull it back or adjust a few things. Not a huge deal, though. For quick writing sessions or demos, it saves me a ton of time, and that’s the part I appreciate most.

"Wish I had more control over the mix"
I wanted to like it. Really did. But once I started messing with the mix settings, it just felt... boxed in. Not enough room to adjust things the way I wanted, and I kept hitting limits that got annoying fast. Maybe it’s fine if you only need basic options, but for me, the mixing felt too locked down.

"Good sound overall, but something feels a little off"
The sound quality is mostly solid, and some of the kits actually feel really nice to play with. That said, a few of the presets sound kind of flat to me, like something is just a bit off unless you spend time tweaking them. It’s not bad by any means, but for the price, I was expecting it to feel a little more polished right out of the box.

"Helpful support, just a little slow"
I had trouble tracking down my old EZdrummer license after switching emails, so I reached out to support. They got back to me the next day and ended up sorting it out without too much fuss. The replies was not super quick, but they were clear and helpful enough. Would’ve been 5 stars if the response time was a bit faster.

"Setup was way harder than it should’ve been"
The software itself might be totally fine once you’re up and running, but my experience getting started was frustrating. The docs just didn’t give me enough to work with. I kept trying to find basic setup steps, and a lot of the pages were either too vague or seemed to skip important details. If you already know the system, maybe it’s not a big deal, but as someone trying to set it up properly, I ended up relying on forum posts and random videos instead. For something paid, I expected the official help to be a lot more useful.

"Sounds good, but it got heavy for me over time"
I’ve been using it for a little while now, and the sound quality has been really solid. At first, on smaller projects, everything ran smoothly. But once I started working on bigger sessions after a few weeks, I noticed it was using more CPU than I expected. Still works fine overall, but it can definitely feel a bit heavy depending on the project.
